Mission

To provide quality technical education to all members of the power-limited industry, particularly those who are employed by contractors signatory to the Minnesota Limited Energy Agreement.


Current Enrollment
  • 103 Indentured Apprentices

Scope of Work

The JATC provides apprenticeship training and continuing education for the power-limited electrical industry; specifically, to members and contractors signatory to the Minnesota Limited Energy Agreement.

Areas of technical training include but are not limited to:
  • Voice, Data, Video (VDV)
  • Fire Alarms
  • Security and Access-Control Systems
  • Audio
  • Computer Networking
  • Structured Wiring
  • 1st Aid/CPR
  • OSHA Construction Safety

Unlicensed Registration Requirement with the State of Minnesota

The State of Minnesota now requires all unlicensed electrical workers to be register as Unlicensed.  If you are unlicensed and performing electrical work in the State of Minnesota, you must complete the registration form found at the link below, and pay a $20 fee.
The registration will need to be renewed annually.

In addition, credit for installation work performed after January 1, 2008 will not be granted unless you are registered as unlicensed.   Renewal of unlicensed registration will also require the completion of an approved, 2-hour NEC code class.

Continuing Education

Our classes are approved by the Minnesota Department of Electrical Licensing and qualify to meet the requirements for continuing education to maintain/renew the Power Limited Technician License.

Members and contractor employees signatory to the Minnesota Limited Energy Agreement are elligible to register for classes at a reduced cost.
